Projects include patient care, diagnostic, and specialised treatment facilities in hospital and health centre environments. Many involve careful coordination between medical equipment manufacturers and the design team to provide a dedicated facility which is reassuring and comfortable for the patient and workable for the staff. Others augment the existing to provide upgraded and new services in carefully designed units.               Community         Community and healthcare projects overlap in many respects. Our concerns in our designs are to meet the aspirations of the users of the buildings and provide facilities which give a special environment. The use of natural light, the relationships between functions, the innovative features all contribute to the atmosphere of the building, not only within it, but to its site and neighbourhood.               Education         The government is promoting a programme of Surestart children's centres. These are in areas of deprevation and consist of a nursery for children aged between 0-4 with community facilities and computer training. We have been involved with four projects for Lancashire County Council.                 Residential               From refurbishment of existing redundant mills into new apartments to home extensions, housing projects are becoming an added feature of our work. Approach and concern for addressing CO2 emissions and sustainablity form key criteria for the projects.
